Kendall Jenner Couldn't Wait for Sweater Weather to Rewear Her Favorite The Row Knit

Our take

Fall’s arrival signals a return to cozy classics, and Kendall Jenner is already embracing the trend. The model recently rewore a beloved knit from The Row, proving that timeless pieces deserve a repeat appearance. This isn't a solitary endorsement; the crewneck sweater has quietly become a celebrity favorite, representing a shift towards understated elegance. Embracing effortless style, it’s a testament to quiet luxury.

The resurgence of quiet luxury isn't a fleeting trend; it’s a recalibration of how we perceive and consume fashion. Kendall Jenner’s recent re-wearing of her favorite The Row knit, and the subsequent media buzz, perfectly encapsulates this shift. It's not about chasing the newest logo or the loudest statement piece, but rather an appreciation for timeless design, impeccable quality, and a sense of understated elegance. This echoes a broader movement away from the maximalism of recent years, a reaction perhaps, to the relentless cycle of fast fashion and the performative nature of some online trends. The enduring appeal of The Row, as evidenced by its celebrity devotees including Hailey Bieber and Jennifer Lawrence, speaks volumes about this desire for pieces that transcend fleeting trends and become enduring staples – a sensibility explored further in Fashion People Aren't Buying Basic Blue Jeans Right Now—These Are the Pairs They're Choosing Instead. The key here is not just the clothing itself, but the narrative it conveys: a quiet confidence, a discerning taste, and a rejection of conspicuous consumption.

This isn’t just about individual style choices; it’s indicative of a larger cultural shift. We’re witnessing a move toward valuing longevity and craftsmanship over novelty and instant gratification. The appeal of The Row, and brands that embody this aesthetic, lies in their ability to offer a sense of exclusivity without resorting to overt branding. The knitwear itself becomes a symbol of belonging to a certain echelon, a silent acknowledgment of shared values and a commitment to enduring style. It’s a world away from the disposable nature of trends, where garments are designed to be worn once and discarded. This emphasis on quality and timelessness is also evident in Brenda Song's curated fall collection, showcasing a thoughtful approach to building a wardrobe – a concept highlighted in Your Sneak Preview of Everything Brenda Song Is Wearing This Fall. The focus shifts from accumulating possessions to curating a collection of pieces that reflect personal style and values.

The celebrity endorsement, in this context, takes on a different meaning. It's not about promoting a product for profit, but rather showcasing a lifestyle. Kendall Jenner isn't “selling” a sweater; she’s embodying a sensibility. The repeated wear reinforces the idea that these pieces are integral to her everyday life, not just fleeting fashion statements. This aligns with the principles of quiet luxury – a subtle integration of high-quality items into a lived-in, authentic aesthetic. It’s a powerful demonstration of how style can be about more than just what you wear; it’s about how you *live*. This echoes the broader trend of influencers moving away from overt product placement and towards a more authentic, lifestyle-driven approach – a shift that's forcing brands to rethink their marketing strategies. It’s a move away from the shouty, attention-grabbing tactics of the past and towards a more nuanced and considered form of communication, where quality and authenticity are paramount. The subtle power of a well-chosen piece, worn with effortless grace, speaks volumes.

Ultimately, the quiet luxury movement represents a rejection of the superficiality that has often dominated the fashion landscape. It’s a return to fundamentals: quality, craftsmanship, and timeless design. The ongoing popularity of The Row, and the enthusiasm with which celebrities like Jenner embrace its understated elegance, suggest that this trend is here to stay. Lana Condor's style choices, with their nod to '90s simplicity, further solidify this shift, as explored in Lana Condor's '90s-Inspired Dress Would've Made Her the Best-Dressed Guest at Any Wedding. As consumers become increasingly discerning and mindful of their purchasing decisions, will we see a further decline in fast fashion and a continued embrace of brands that prioritize quality, sustainability, and enduring style, or will the pendulum swing back towards fleeting trends and conspicuous consumption?

Most of the best-selling bags in Kendall Jenner's The Row collection are also beloved by Hailey Bieber, Jennifer Lawrence, Elle Fanning, and more. Turns out, the Olsen twins' most loyal clients share the same taste in knitwear, too. On August 17, the celebrity-beloved Ophelia Sweater, which first appeared in Jenner's closet years ago, returned to her Instagram feed—in a new, goes-with-everything color.

Jenner wasn't exaggerating when she referred to herself as a "lucky lady" in the caption: She secured the wool-and-cashmere blend crewneck before sizes started to dwindle. The $1,550 sweater comes complete with a ribbed collar, a matching hemline and cuffs, and bell-shaped sleeves. If the black-and-white filter isn't playing tricks on my eyes, Jenner's version is in the creamy white color called "Sand."

While the photographer (could it be Jacob Elordi?) cropped Jenner's pants and shoes from the picture, her oval-shaped sunglasses, canvas tote, and wine glass made the cut. Knowing the minimalist's personal style (and current fashion fixations), she might've stacked straight-leg jeans and high-vamp flats from The Row beneath the intentionally oversized, cozy silhouette.

At this point, The Row's repeat clients are as familiar with the Ophelia Sweater as they are with the Margaux, Park Tote, and Marlo bags. My (unscientific) research suggests the double-layered design has been infiltrating celebrity closets since the end of 2022.

Sofia Richie Grainge, Pamela Anderson, and Lawrence previously tested the "Grey Melange" color with a blazer, white jeans, and Adidas Sambas, respectively. Jenner, on the other hand, has the style in three neutral shades: gray, cobalt blue, and black.

Since launch, the sweater's styling potential has been tested. Back in 2023, Jenner's close friend, Bieber, transformed the thigh-sweeping sweater into a mini dress. She elevated its comfort-first feel with leather Jimmy Choo boots, a belted tote bag by Toteme, and her signature Saint Laurent sunglasses.

Years later, Jenner's other Ophelia Sweaters show no signs of wear and tear. (Shoppers should expect nothing less from a four-figure jumper.) In Dec. 2025, after Margot Robbie, Emma Stone, Ariana Grande, and sister Kylie Jenner debuted their own Ophelias, the 818 founder stayed true to the baggy black knit, wearing it over a white T-shirt, easy-breezy bottoms, and burgundy ballet flats from Reformation.

Will this VIP-adored sweater change your life? Probably not, but if you're wearing cashmere crewnecks as much as Jenner, it might be worth the investment. From booked-and-busy Fashion Months to Sushi Park dinners with her sister, The Ophelia Sweater has become Jenner's chicest confidant.
