Kylie Jenner's Khy Just Launched Shoes—I Have a Feeling They'll Sell Out in a Week
Our take

The fashion landscape is perpetually shifting, and the latest tremor comes from Kylie Jenner’s Khy line, now venturing into footwear with a collaboration with Italian designer Gia Borghini. The immediate reaction, as evidenced by the Who What Wear article, is a prediction of rapid sell-outs – a testament to Jenner’s enduring influence and the inherent desirability associated with her brand. This move isn't entirely unexpected; Khy has steadily built a reputation for understated, comfortable essentials, and expanding into shoes feels like a natural, albeit significant, progression. It's a strategic play to solidify Khy’s position beyond loungewear and into a more comprehensive lifestyle offering. The timing is also noteworthy, arriving amidst a broader trend of prioritizing comfort and practicality in fashion, a theme we’ve seen reflected in recent style shifts, like the move away from black leggings towards chic shorts – a trend embraced by Hailey Bieber, as highlighted in Not Black Leggings—Hailey Bieber and Other It Girls Are Wearing This Chic Shorts Color to Pilates Instead.
The collaboration with Gia Borghini is particularly interesting. Borghini is known for her commitment to sustainable practices and her distinctive, slightly bohemian aesthetic – a contrast to the hyper-polished image often associated with Jenner. This pairing suggests a deliberate attempt to broaden Khy’s appeal and signal a commitment to values beyond mere trendiness. It’s a savvy move, aligning the brand with a designer who resonates with a conscious consumer base. Furthermore, the broader accessories market is seeing a subtle yet powerful shift, with consumers increasingly opting for investment pieces over fleeting trends. We’ve observed this in the growing popularity of alternative tote bags to the ubiquitous Margaux, with downtown “it” girls like Emma Chamberlain and Kaia Gerber opting for cooler, more understated options – a trend explored in Everyone in Fashion Wants a Margaux, but Downtown It Girls Are Carrying This Cool Tote Instead. Khy’s shoe launch taps into this desire for enduring style and quality. The inclusion of a "WAYWT" piece WAYWT - August 19, 2026 also underscores the importance of integrating fashion into everyday life, highlighting how consumers are curating their personal style through accessible and wearable pieces.
What’s truly significant about this launch is not just the shoes themselves, but what it represents for the celebrity-turned-entrepreneur model. Jenner has consistently demonstrated an ability to anticipate and shape consumer desires. Khy isn't about aggressively promoting a brand; it’s about organically integrating a lifestyle – one that prioritizes comfort, understated luxury, and a sense of effortless cool. The success of Khy, and now Khy shoes, underscores the power of authenticity and relatability in a market saturated with influencer marketing. This isn't about pushing a product; it's about offering a curated vision of a desirable life, one that resonates with a broad audience. The brand's quiet confidence and focus on mood, rather than overt displays of wealth, align with the broader trend of “quiet luxury” that’s dominating fashion conversations. It’s a far cry from the overtly branded, logo-driven aesthetics of the past.
Looking ahead, the footwear launch will be a crucial test of Khy’s long-term viability. Will the collaboration with Gia Borghini prove to be a sustainable partnership, or a fleeting moment of hype? More importantly, can Khy successfully expand its reach beyond the loungewear category without losing the core values that have made it so appealing? The brand's ability to maintain its understated elegance and emotional depth while navigating the complexities of the broader fashion market will be key to its continued success. The question remains: can Khy evolve into a true fashion house, or will it remain a highly successful, but ultimately limited, lifestyle brand?
