I travel partially because I never got the chance to when I was younger

Not trying to be too sentimental, but the more I’ve been traveling around, the more this idea clicked with me. Outside of wanting to discover new places, learn something new, and have a valuable experience, I travel because I never got the chance to as a kid. I could count on my hands how many times we took a trip, and we were usually just tagging along as extras, sometimes without doing much of anything while there. But now that I’m grown, I can have that free will and independence.

I go on solo day trips all the time, and even if it’s a city an hour away I usually get a lot out of it. I typically stay within a 2-3 hour range of home. I’m a hiker so it’s easy to go to a state park or nature preserve, then just pop into town and see what it’s like. It also makes you go places you might no go otherwise, as they can be a bit more obscure and out the way. It brings variety.

It’s just a liberating thing really. I feel like it could help other people grow and become more positive as well. Anyone else feel the same way?
