U.S. Navy Kills 4 In Caribbean Boat Strike As Trump’s “Operation Southern Spear” Death Toll Hits 163

The U.S forces said that they struck an alleged drug smuggling boat in the Caribbean Sea, killing 4 in Trump’s monthlong campaign against traffickers in Latin America while fighting with Iran on the other front.
This incident brings the death toll from such boat strikes to 163, since the US government began targeting those people it labelled “narcoterrorists”.
U.S. Southern Command said that they attacked the drug traffickers along the known smuggling sea lanes; however, they did not provide any proof that the boat was indeed carrying any drugs.
They posted a video on X showing a boat moving across the water before it exploded.
U.S President Trump said that the U.S is in an ‘armed conflict’ with cartels in the region and justified the attacks as necessary to stop the drugs from reaching the U.S., which loses countless citizens every year to drug overdoses.
However, the government has offered little evidence regarding the killings.
Critics questioned the legality of the whole affair and also their effectiveness, mainly because the fentanyl behind fatal overdoses is trafficked to the U.S. via land routes from Mexico, where it is made with chemicals imported from China and India.
Boat strikes continued in Latin America as the U.S military focused on operations in the Middle East, where American warships and aircraft are involved in a campaign against Iran.
Marines and soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division are on their way to the region, as the U.S. is stationing more troops and vessels in the region amidst heightening tensions with Iran, with no negotiations in sight.
