Traveling to Marrakesh for 4 nights (3 full days). Stay in the city or do an Ourika Valley day trip?
My husband and I will be in Marrakesh Thursday night at the end of about 10 days in France and Spain. It's a last minute trip. We're staying at a riad in the medina. We usually like a mix of good food, wandering, and generally memorable experiences, not just trying to check off every major tourist spot.
I’ve been looking at day trips to the Ourika Valley since it seems like a good way to get some nature and see more than just the city. But from the reviews I’ve seen, maybe it’s a bit too touristy?
For anyone who’s been recently, did it feel worth it or more like a tourist trap? If you’d skip it, would you just stay in Marrakesh and go deeper there, or do something else nearby instead?
Also thinking about hiring a private guide for the medina to make things easier and get more context without feeling hassled at the end of our trip. Worth it or not really necessary?
Curious what people would prioritize with just three full days. We get in around 8 pm. We're elder millennials without kids, if that helps, and budget for extras like private guides isn’t a concern unless it’s hundreds of dollars.
Thanks for any advice in advance!
